Stephenville region moving to Alert Level 4 as new COVID-19 cluster found


Dr. Rosann Seviour, Medical Officer of Health, held an unscheduled media availability today at 2:00 p.m. to discuss COVID-19 cases in the Western Health region.


Communities in the St. George’s, Stephenville and Port au Port Peninsula area are moving to Alert Level 4 as of 4:00 pm today. There will be testing at the Stephenville Dome tomorrow (Monday).

There are seven new cases today. Of these cases, there are two in the Eastern Health region related to the cluster in Central Newfoundland. There is one case in Central Newfoundland related to the cluster. In Western Health there are four cases.


There are 104 active cases.


The cluster on the West Coast includes 11 cases and 3 presumptive positive cases.


Anyone who visited Dominion in Stephenville on May 26 between 4:30 and 6:30 or Walmart from 5:00 to 7:00 are asked to arrange for COVID-19 testing.


There are three people in the hospital and 146,081 people have been tested.


Dr. Seviour is asking anyone in the area who have no symptoms to get the vaccine. Clinics are still ongoing.


Dr. Fitzgerald is off this weekend.
