NL sees population boost


The province has seen the largest quarterly population growth since 1971.


Statistics Canada estimates that the province’s population increased by 2,929 people from April 1 to July 1 of this year.


Since January 1, 2021, the population of Newfoundland and Labrador has grown by 6,236 people.


The main driver of newcomers to the province is immigration. 2,068 international people arrived in the province.


Migration from other provinces, mostly from Ontario and Alberta, continues to be strong with 1,300 people moving here during this period.
