Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP investigates multiple break and enters, suspect identified
Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP is investigating two break and enters and two other crimes that occurred on August 13, 2024. A suspect has been identified for three of these crimes and efforts are underway to locate and arrest.
Shortly before 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a break and enter at the former Paddon Home on Cook Street which is currently vacant and under renovations. Suspect(s) forced entry inside the property and deployed a number of fire extinguishers inside causing damage. Suspect(s) fled the scene prior to police arrival. Police are looking to identify those responsible for this crime.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to a robbery on Churchill Street. The suspect, who was wearing a yellow hoodie and shorts, fled the scene prior to police arrival on a stolen scooter. The victim was uninjured.
A short time later, police received a report of a bicycle theft on White Crescent. In addition to the bicycle, the suspect stole several items from inside a vehicle that was parked on the property. The suspect, who matched the description of the robbery suspect, fled the scene on the stolen bicycle prior to police arrival.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., police received a report of a residential break and enter that had occurred about an hour earlier at a home on White Crescent while the home was unoccupied. A number of items were stolen and the suspect was no longer on the property. RCMP Police Dog Services were engaged and recovered the majority of the stolen items from this property at a residential location on Justin Avenue.
The person believed responsible for these three crimes has been identified. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest this individual.
The investigations are continuing. Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP is seeking assistance from the public, asking residents to check all available surveillance footage and to report any information about these crimes directly to the detachment by calling 709-896-3383.
