Enforcement Officials Seek Information to Support Caribou Poaching Investigation


The Resource Enforcement Division of the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is seeking public assistance to support an ongoing investigation into a recent caribou poaching incident near the community of Loon Bay.


Officers discovered a fresh caribou paunch on the Loon Bay Access Road, which is an area closed to caribou hunting. Based on evidence located at the site, officers estimate the animal was killed between the evening of Monday, December 11, and the morning of Wednesday, December 13.


Anyone with information about this incident or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area is encouraged to contact the Gander Detachment of the Resource Enforcement Division.
