Considerable snow possible for Avalon and Burin Peninsulas

An area of low pressure is expected to pass south of Newfoundland on Saturday.

Snow will begin over the Burin and Avalon Peninsula on Friday night and will continue until Sunday morning.

At this time there is considerable disagreement in models but there is the potential for some significant snowfall.

Snowfall amounts on the Avalon Peninsula could range from 15 to 35 cm on Saturday while the Burin Peninsula might see 10 to 20 cm.

Winds will also be strong with gusts to 80 km/h possible, resulting in blowing snow.
