Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that the federal government will provide $25,000 in compensation for each of the Canadian victims that were killed on the Ukrainian airline that was shot down by Iran.
Trudeau said that the money will "assist with their immediate needs, such as funeral arrangements and travel."
Iran admitted that Flight PS752 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile.
It is not unusual for a tweet from President Donald Trump to draw criticism, but some say a tweet on Monday has crossed the line.
On Monday the President retweeted an obviously doctored photo of Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in Middle Eastern with the flag of Iran behind them and a title that said "Democrats 2020".
Due to the rising tension and threat of violence in the Middle East, Canadians are asked to exercise a high degree of caution, or avoid travelling to altogether.
As of Saturday, Canadians should exercise a high degree of caution in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, along with the United Arab Emirates.
Travel to Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, and Iraq should be avoided.
