Wildfire in Carbonear closes highway

Fire crews spent a large portion of Tuesday evening fighting a wildfire in Carbonear that was near the Dairy Queen on Columbus Drive.

Columbus Drive from Canadian Tire to the turnoff to Harbour Grace was closed for hours.

A water bomber was dispatched to the area and made several passes.

The fire was under control and crews were monitoring for hot spots by about 9:00 pm on Tuesday evening.
