WHO says COVID-19 no longer a public health emergency


The World Health Organization says that COVID-19 is no longer a public health emergency of international concern.


Committee members highlighted the decreasing trend in COVID-19 deaths, the decline in COVID-19-related hospitalizations and intensive care unit admissions, and the high levels of population immunity.


There are still uncertainties in the potential evolution of the virus but it is time to transition to long-term management of the pandemic.


On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization announced that the novel coronavirus was considered a public health emergency of international concern.
