Victoria man arrested for impaired driving

The RCMP arrested a man from Victoria for impaired driving after receiving a tip from the public.

The 32-year-old was arrested on Sunday shortly after midnight.

Police received the report of a vehicle that was abandoned at an intersection with its lights left on. The male driver was observed staggering away on foot.

Responding officers located the driver who showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and was transported back to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.

The man was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

The man is charged with impaired driving, his licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
