Two people arrested with weapons offence in CBS


The RNC have arrested two people after a report of a weapons offence in Conception Bay South earlier this month.


In the early morning hours of March 12 officers responded to a report of a weapons offence in the area of the Foxtrap Access Road in CBS.


Police learned that a male had been observed in the area with a handgun, and had since left the area in a taxi.


A short time later, police located the taxi and conducted a traffic stop without incident.


The individuals in the taxi were taken into custody. When police searched the taxi they discovered two handguns and ammunition.


Police arrested 29-year-old James Tyson on an outstanding warrant, along with charges related to this incident. Tyson is facing 11 charges including:

  • Pointing a firearm

  • Carrying a concealed firearm

  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

  • Careless use of a firearm

  • Unauthorized use of a firearm

  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition

  • Possession of stolen property

  • Obstruction

  • Breach of Release Order

  • Fail to attend court

Police also stated that additional charges would be laid.


On March 22 police arrested 39-year-old Justin Jennings in relation to the incident. He faces charges of

  • Careless use of a firearm

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Carrying a concealed weapon

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

  • Possession of a firearm knowing its unauthorized

  • Unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle

  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition

  • Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence

  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order


Police are asking that anyone who may have information to assist the investigation to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
