Timed Parking Area Changes for Churchill Square

Earlier this month the council approved changes to reduce two-hour and four-hour timed parking sections to one-hour and two hours in Churchill Square.

Timed Parking Area signage is being updated to address parking issues and concerns from businesses and clients.

Enforcement of the new signage will begin on January 10.

Previously, timed parking signage in Churchill Square didn’t include the specification of an ‘Area’. This made it more burdensome to enforce, and space turnover wasn’t achieved.

With the additional Area information on the signs, motorists must leave the Area to re-set the timing. Vehicles cannot move within the same designated Area to re-set the clock. For example, a vehicle parked in the two-hour Area 1 at 8 a.m. must vacate the area by 10 a.m. and may not return to the same area until 12 p.m., after two hours have passed. They can move to another Area, such as Area 2, 3 or 4.
