Sunday Drive to Aguathuna

The Town of Port au Port West-Aguathuna-Felix Cove is located on the Port au Port Peninsula.

The town was created in 1970 by amalgamating the small villages of Port au Port West, Aguathuna and Felix Cove.

Aguathuna was once home to a locally famous alpaca farm that closed in 2018.

The area grew from workers at the nearby limestone mine site at Jack of Clubs Cove. The Dominion Iron and Steel Company opened a quarry there in 1911.

The area features some breathtaking views of not only the ocean but the landscape as well. Those driving through the community on Route 460 can get a sense of what rural Newfoundland looks like.

Sunday Drive is a weekly feature that focuses on small to medium communities in Newfoundland and Labrador.
