The City of St. John's could soon have new snow-clearing regulations for pedestrian crossings.
The Committee of the Whole voted to enhance snow-clearing resources at 122 pedestrian street crossings in the city.
It will cost an additional $270,015 for eight employees, one supervisor, two leased loaders and two light-duty trucks.
If enacted pedestrian-activated crossings will be cleared within three days of street widening operations. It has taken approximately seven days for crews to clear pedestrian-activated crossings in the past.
The recommendation will be referred to City Council for a final vote.
