Snow, Rain, and Strong wind Headed to NL #nlwx


Ahead of our next weather system, there are winter storm watches in effect for Cartwright to Black Tickle, Eagle River, Postville - Makkovik, Rigolet and vicinity, and Upper Lake Melville.


Special weather statements are in effect for all of Newfoundland and most of Labrador.


Significant snowfall and strong winds are expected in the areas under the winter storm watch 40 cm or more and wind gusts to 100 km/h or more Monday night until Wednesday morning.

Elsewhere across central and northern Labrador snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm and wind gusts to 70 km/h are expected.


Newfoundland will see heavy rain and strong wind Monday night into Tuesday. Southern sections of the Island and the west coast will see the most rain with 20 to 40 mm expected.


Elsewhere across Newfoundland, amounts of 5 to 15 mm are expected. Winds will be quite strong across Newfoundland with gusts up to 100 km/h possible. As a result, there could be some power outages.


As the low departs, snow squalls are possible on the west coast.
