RoseAnne Archibald removed as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations

RoseAnne Archibald has been removed as the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.

She served in the position since July 2021. She was also the first female National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.

On June 17, 2022, Archibald was suspended as National Chief over bullying and harassment allegations.

She was reinstated on July 5, 2022, after a resolution to uphold her suspension was defeated at the AFN General Assembly. Third-party investigators subsequently concluded Archibald breached the AFN's harassment policy, whistleblower policy and code of conduct.

AFN members voted 71 percent in favour to remove her as national chief, effective immediately on Wednesday.

The position will remain vacant until an interim national chief is appointed.
