Rogers Communications has signed a deal valued at $26 billion to purchase Shaw.

As part of the deal, Rogers will invest in 5G Networks in western regions of Canada and expand high-speed internet service to rural and Indigenous communities.

The deal has not been finalized because it has to clear customary closing conditions including approval from regulators. The deal is expected to close early next year.

Rogers Communications Inc. operates primarily in the fields of wireless communications, cable television, telephone and Internet connectivity, with significant additional telecommunications and mass media assets. Rogers has its headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.

Shaw Communications Inc. provides telephone, Internet, television, and mobile services. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Shaw provides home telecommunications services primarily in Alberta and British Columbia and satellite television nationally.
