RNC's mounted unit to conduct evening patrols in St. John's

The RNC's mounted unit will be conducting evening patrols of the downtown area leading up to the holiday season.

Beginning on Thursday the mounted unit will be patrolling the downtown area.

There are some safety tips to keep in mind when approaching the horses. Do not approach from behind the horse, give the horse physical space, do not pet or feed the horse, and motorists are asked to exercise caution near the Mounted Unit and give the horses the right-of-way.

Police are also asking the community to get involved. When people see the mounted unit, they can take a photograph and post it to social media for a chance to win a prize with the hashtag #SpotTheMountedUnit and tag the RNC on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
