RCMP investigating arson of police vehicle

This morning at approximately 1:40 a.m. a marked RCMP police vehicle was found engulfed in flames.

The vehicle was parked at a garage across from the Nain Detachment. The Nain Volunteer Fire Department attended and extinguished the flames. The police vehicle was completely destroyed by fire and the exterior of the garage incurred minor damage.

Nain RCMP has launched an arson investigation and is asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity around the time of the blaze, or has information on the person(s) responsible, to call Nain RCMP at 709-922-2862 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers.
