Province announces surgical task force

A task force has been established to address the surgical backlog.

The task force will consist of 15 members. The task force is the latest initiative to help address the surgical backlog in the province.

Other initiatives were previously announced including a partnership with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute to address the waitlist for cardiac surgery, as well as a plan to perform hip and knee joint replacement surgeries on an outpatient basis for suitable candidates.

The province is also receiving approximately $27 million from the federal government for health care funding.
