Premier intervenes in crab fishery dispute

Today negotiations took place between the ASP and the FFAW.

Premier Andrew Furey acted as a mediator between the two groups. Discussions continued this evening.

FFAW has said that harvesters will not fish based on the current price of $2.20.

While a solution is needed to get the fishery underway this year, the FFAW said that Furey has committed to changing the process and that next season will not be the same.

Further updates will be provided when available.
