Police investigating fatal accident on Burin Peninsula Highway

A 56-year-old man has died after a collision between a car and an ATV on Route 210 on the Burin Peninsula Highway on Wednesday evening.

The collision happened when the ATV was driving on the shoulder of the road and reportedly veered into traffic to avoid hitting a moose.

The ATV then collided with the oncoming car. The ATV operator was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

At this time police do not believe speed or alcohol was a factor. The investigation is continuing and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and a Traffic Analyst have been engaged.
