PM Announces New Travel Restrictions

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced new restrictions due to COVID-19 today.

The new rules come into effect on Sunday.

All flights by major Canadian airlines to sunny destinations will be suspended.

Travellers will be expected to quarantine in a hotel, at their own expense, for up to three days, while awaiting the results of a mandatory test upon arrival in Canadian airports.

If a traveller tests negative after landing, they must complete a 14-day quarantine at home. If the test is positive, then a 14-day quarantine must be completed in a hotel.

All international flights must land at one of four airports in the country. Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Montreal.

Flights to the Caribbean are suspended until at least April 30th.
