Optional evacuation offered in Grand Falls-Windsor

Residents who wish to leave Grand Falls-Windsor due to the wildfire may do so today.

A bus will be departing for the Provincial Government Evacuation Shelter in Deer Lake, the Hodder Memorial Centre this morning at 11:00 am.

Residents wishing to leave will be accommodated there until it is safe to return to Grand Falls-Windsor.

There will be two pick-up points. The Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium and Windsor Stadium. Please arrive at one of these muster stations by 10:00 am.

If you require transportation to a pick-up point, please contact the Fire Hall Dispatch at 489-0400 prior to 10:00 am.

Please note that you must pack responsibly and bring only essential items such as cash, prescription medications, eyeglasses, several changes of clothing, and personal items as you may be away for several days.
