NLMA suspends negotiations with the province

The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association has suspended negotiations with the province.

The association says that both Health Minister John Haggie and Finance Minister Siobhan Coady said that the provincial government will make no new investment in physician services to help improve physician recruitment and retention.

The NLMA will now be launching town hall meetings to discuss the next steps with its members.

Deputy Premier and President of Treasury Board Siobhan Coady addressed the media late on Thursday afternoon.

The NLMA represents the views of physicians in the province.
