NL population grows for fifth consecutive quarter

For the fifth consecutive quarter, the population of the province continues to grow.

Statistics Canada's latest quarterly population estimates released on June 22 show that the population of the province increased by 422 persons from January 1, 2022, to April 1, 2022.

The population growth trend began in January of 2021. Since then the population of Newfoundland and Labrador has grown by 3,211 people.

The primary catalyst for population growth is immigration along with migration from other parts of Canada, primarily Ontario and Alberta.
