New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announces resignation after sexual harassment allegations

This afternoon New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he is resigning. His resignation will be effective in 14 days on August 24.

Cuomo was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women. He has denied all allegations and has apologized for his comments being interpreted as sexually charged.

A report was released this month that stated that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women during his time in office, with actions such as unwanted groping, kissing and sexual comments.

New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul will replace Cuomo. She will become the first female to hold the position in the state.

Cuomo was facing an impeachment investigation.
