New helmet and seatbelt regulations for ATV use

As of May 19 helmets and seatbelts (where installed by manufacturers) will be mandatory for the operation of all off-road vehicles in the province.

Under the new legislation, helmets will not be required for hunting and trapping activities involving frequent stops, where speed is less than 20 km/h.

Further information regarding the new safety requirements for off-road vehicles, will be announced prior to the compliance date.

The Department of Digital Government and Service NL is reminding users that there is no reason to wait until the regulations come into force to wear helmets or seatbelts.
