Man arrested after locking himself inside room to avoid arrest

There were some tense moments when RNC officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in the center city area of St. John’s on Thursday evening.

After an investigation, officers we going to arrest a 37-year-old man for uttering threats.

The man refused to comply and locked himself inside a room where it was believed he had access to a weapon.

Police were able to deescalate the situation and take the man into custody without incident.

The accused was held to appear in court.
