On Thursday morning RCMP officers observed a 60-year-old man driving into Hopedale from the sea ice with a defective tail light on his snowmobile.
Police conducted a traffic stop and determined that the male did not have a licence and showed signs of impairment. A roadside breath test was performed, which the driver failed.
The man has been arrested for impaired driving. Once at the Detachment, the man provided a breath sample that was near twice the legal limit.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on March 22, 2022.
