On Sunday the RCMP responded to a report received just after 3:00 a.m. of an ATV travelling back and forth London Road in Carbonear.
When police arrived, the ATV had crashed.
The driver, a 34-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet but was uninjured.
The man exhibited signs of alcohol impairment and provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.
A case of beer also left the ATV when the crash occurred.
The accused now faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation while impaired over 80mg%. He also has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle without insurance and operating an ATV without a helmet.
He will appear in court on June 13.
