Janeway implements changes due to increase in respiratory illnesses

The Janeway has implemented some temporary changes to some routine surgeries and appointments.

Due to an increase in pediatric presentations to the emergency department and admissions due to respiratory illnesses, some routine surgeries and appointments have been cancelled.

Patients will be contacted directly should there be an impact on their procedure and it will be rescheduled for a later date.

Rather than proceeding to the Janeway, Eastern Health is asking people to consider making an appointment with their primary healthcare provider for non-urgent. If you are unsure whether you should go to the emergency department, call the NL Health Line at 811 to speak with a registered nurse.

Patients with a medical emergency who require an ambulance should continue to call 911.
