House of Assembly to sit to discuss proposed Essential Ambulance Services Act

Premier Furey and the Minister Responsible for Labour Bernard Davis will provide a media availability Monday at 9:45 am to discuss the proposed Essential Ambulance Services Act.

The House of Assembly will re-convene at 10:00 am for an emergency debate regarding the ongoing labour dispute between private ambulance operators and Teamsters Local 855.

The purpose of the sitting will be to enact the Essential Ambulance Services Act.

This Act will make private ambulance services essential, which Furey said in a statement "is necessary in order to protect the safety of patients, particularly given the current challenges within the health care system across Canada, including in our province."
