Happy Valley-Goose Bay man facing multiple charges after incident on Monday

A 27-year-old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay is facing a number of charges after an incident in the town on Monday that required a significant police response.
Police received two reports on Monday. The first was of an assault and threats and damage to a vehicle by the man.
As police were searching for the man, a second report was received indicating he was armed with a firearm. Responding police officers located and contained him in the area of White Crescent. Police negotiators were engaged and the man was safely arrested.
The accused faces charges of assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats, mischief under $5000, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and failure to comply with a release order.
The man was held in custody and appeared in court on Wednesday.
