Government providing free chemical testing kits to private well owners

The Provincial Government will provide free chemical testing kits to private well owners across the province.

Residents will be able to collect baseline groundwater data for the province. The data will be analyzed and the province will then provide well owners with detailed information about their drinking water, in hopes of lowering the health risk to the public related to consuming groundwater with naturally occurring contaminants.

Participants will be asked to fill out a sample record form, collect water in the bottle provided and return the completed kit to the nearest regional office.

In addition, a free bacteriological testing service is currently available in the province for all well owners.
