Government proposes amendments to Memorial University Act


The Provincial Government has proposed amendments to the Memorial University Act.


The amendments include changes to the governance structure of the Board of Regents to allow for teaching staff on the board. The Board of Regents is the governing body of the university.


Incorporating gender-neutral language to modernize the Act and incorporating administrative changes to update the names of certain Acts and government departments.


Government says that these amendments will "strengthen and modernize the Act."
