Government Introduces Weigh Station Bypass Option for Commercial Drivers

Weigh station bypass service is now available in this province, allowing compliant commercial carriers to bypass weigh scales.

The bypass service, provided by Drivewyze PreClear, uses GPS transponder technology to notify an on-duty Highway Enforcement Officer that a registered vehicle is approaching the scales. The driver receives a hands-free audible and visual in-cab notification advising when they can bypass the scales. Commercial carriers subscribing to the service are rewarded for their safety ratings with weigh station bypass privileges.

Newfoundland and Labrador is the third province to offer this service, joining Ontario and Alberta.
