Government increases compensation for doctors at rural sites

In light of the recent temporary closures of emergency rooms across the province, the provincial government in collaboration with the Regional Health Authorities and the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association are working to address the issues.

One new measure will be compensation rates will be increased for covering the emergency rooms in these smaller rural health centres until October 31.

It is anticipated that these measures will help stabilize services in these regions while other longer-term recruitment efforts are being implemented.
