Fire on board the HMCS Fredericton

A fire has occurred on the HMCS Fredericton early on Thursday morning.

The ship was off the coast of Norway when a fire occurred in the forward engine room.

The crew extinguished the fire and there were no injuries.

The ship is now proceeding towards a Norwegian port to conduct repairs.

The ship was assisted by several other NATO warships that were serving in Standing NATO Maritime Group 1, as well as the Norwegian Coast Guard.
