FFAW to hold demonstration at Confederation Building on Monday

The FFAW will be holding a demonstration outside Confederation Building on Monday to draw attention to what the union calls a crisis in the snow crab fishery.

Fish harvesters, plant workers, other fishery workers, affected business owners, and concerned citizens are invited to attend.

The demonstration will get underway at the main staircase at 11:00 am on Monday.

Transportation is being arranged for members all over the province.

The union says the price of $2.20 is not viable for fish harvesters. With the increased costs of fuel, bait, and food, they’d be fishing at a loss, and so the choice was made to go bankrupt at the wharf unless some movement can be made.
