Federal Government to mark the 30th anniversary of the Rwanda Genocide

There will be a ceremony at the National Peacekeeping Monument in Ottawa today to mark the 30th anniversary of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

MP Mona Fortier will participate the commemorative ceremony at 10:00 a.m. local time.

The Rwandan genocide, also known as the genocide against the Tutsi, occurred between April 7 and July 15 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War.

It is believed that between 500,000 to 800,000 people were killed.
