Federal budget to be tabled today

The federal government will present the budget today.

Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne will table the budget that is expected to make transformational investments to grow the economy, empower workers, create high-paying careers, and protect and support those most affected by trade disruptions.

The budget serves as the annual blueprint for the government’s economic agenda.

There is a long-standing tradition of keeping the contents of the budget secret until the Minister of Finance actually presents it in the House.

The budget is seemed a matter of confidence in the government. Since Canada currently has a minority government, if all opposition MPs vote against the budget, the governmnet would fall.
