Facebook has changed its name

In an effort to rebrand itself, Facebook has changed its name.

The company will be known as Meta.

Individual platforms such as Facebook and Instagram won't change, just the parent company that manages them.

Google did something similar by renaming itself Alphabet back in 2015.

Facebook was founded in 2004 as TheFacebook by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, roommates and students at Harvard College.
