Corner Brook Brings back Adopt-a-Hydrant Program

On January 4 the Adopt-a-Hydrant program is returning to Corner Brook.

The program encourages residents to help keep fire hydrants in the city clear of snow during the winter months. The program is open to all residents, businesses, families and community organizations.

It is meant to help firefighters quickly find and use hydrants in an emergency.

You can adopt a hydrant by heading to www.cornerbrook.com/adoptahydrant and filling out the form.

What's required?

  • Clear a 3-foot area around your adopted hydrant after each snowfall, or when it is heavily covered in snow and clear a path to the street from the hydrant.

  • Participants no longer need to report when they’ve cleared the hydrant. Each week, firefighters will pick a region of the city and check out the hydrants! They’ll pick a winner and will be in touch about the prizing.

  • At the end of March 2021, there will be a grand prize draw for a new Toro snow blower, sponsored in part by Rugged Edge.
