Conversion therapy banned in Canada

As of Friday, conversion therapy was officially banned in Canada.

Under the new legislation, it is now illegal to promote, advertise, benefit from, or subject someone to conversion therapy.

Conversion therapy is the practice of trying to change an individual's sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual using psychological or spiritual interventions.

Various jurisdictions in Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas have passed laws against conversion therapy.

Conversion therapy is widely discredited.
