Coffin steps down as NDP Leader

Alison Coffin has stepped down as the Leader of the provincial NDP.

Coffin said that "after reflecting over the last couple of days, and to ensure that the incoming executive can focus on the task of building a fair future for everyone, I have made the decision to step down as Leader of the New Democratic Party of Newfoundland and Labrador."

In the last provincial election Coffin failed to win her riding of St. John's East-Quidi Vidi, typically an NDP seat.

She did file for a recount. Her request for a recount was denied.

She became NDP Leader on March 5, 2019.

On 16 October 2021, she lost a leadership review.
