Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department extending gratitude after large fire
The Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department is extending gratitude to the Victoria and Salmon Cove Fire Departments after battling a massive fire on Water Street on Thursday.
Both the Victoria and Salmon Cove Fire Departments were called in on a mutual aid basis.
When firefighters arrived smoke had already begun exiting underneath the building’s eaves and flames were visible inside. Firefighters entered the building and scaled to the upper floor where flames were immediately visible. Crews attacked the fire from inside but it quickly escalated. Several teams completed searches of the accessible apartments and found nobody inside.
It wasn't only neighbouring fire departments but an outpouring of support from the local business community and Individual citizens who delivered food and beverages.
