ATV operator arrested for impaired driving by Deer Lake RCMP #nltraffic

RCMP arrested a 45-year-old Deer Lake man over the weekend after he was operating an ATV while impaired.

Shortly before 11:00 p.m., police were on patrol in Deer Lake and conducted a traffic stop with an ATV in the area of Upper Nicholsville Road. The driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a roadside breath test.

He was arrested for impaired driving, was transported back to the detachment and provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.

The man was later released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date. Additionally, his driver’s licence was suspended and was ticketed for a number of violations. The ATV was seized and impounded.
