Annamie Paul stepping down as Green Party leader


Green Party Annamie Paul has announced that she is stepping down as leader.


She failed to win a seat in the district of Toronto Centre in the recent federal election.


Paul was elected as the leader of the Green Party of Canada on October 3, 2020.


Throughout her tenure as leader, the party has faced infighting over their stance on Israeli and Palestinian affairs.


She is the first Black Canadian and first Jewish woman to be elected leader of a federal party in Canada.


She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Public Affairs degree from Princeton University.
