Agreement reached by St. John’s and CUPE Local 569


An agreement has been reached by the City of St. John’s and CUPE Local 569 employees.


The agreement was ratified by employees late Monday evening, August 1.


The agreement will see employees receive wage increases once per year over the next four years. Employees will also receive a $1000 signing bonus.


This is the first general increase in wages for City employees since 2018.


CUPE Local 569 includes those who work in humane services, parks, property management, road maintenance and snow clearing, traffic, and water and wastewater.


There are approximately 400 employees in this bargaining unit. CUPE 1289 and NAPE 7808 include office workers and staff in recreation, waste collection and water treatment.
