GM Closes Oshawa Plant

General Motors is ceasing production at its Oshawa plant.

The plant was expected to cease operation on Wednesday.

The move will impact 2,600 employees.

GM said the closures are part of a larger restructuring.

The plant will be converted to a stamping and sub-assembly operation, saving about 300 jobs.

The closures were announced by the automaker last year.
